Here’s what the beach looked like on Halloween, staring across the foundation of a storm-wrecked condo.

We’re building a two-story villa at Laguna Beach about two miles from Carillon Beach—and just minutes from beautiful Rosemary, Seaside, and Grayton. I look forward to swimming in the beautiful lap pool and running/biking on the beach at least every other day.
One of the worker’s kids was doing all he could to keep from being bored.

Second floor starts.

I was along for the ride as the girls shopped vintage clothes on our way to the Jazz Fest.

The friendly shopkeeper, Joan.

Jake and Elwood accosted by an anonymous street pirate.

Stroll down the short boardwalk of Oaks by the Bay Park, and you’re greeted by a view of St. Andrews Bay.

I took time off from business as a wedding photographer to attend the Destin Seafood Festival held this year at the Destin Harbor.
The drive from the west end of Panama City Beach was really quick with the relatively new four-lane blacktop and October traffic. It was only 20 minutes to Grayton Beach and another 20 to Destin.
Parking was an easy road-side drill, allowing a short walk to the festival. There was the usual arts and crafts and seafood; but for me, the major draw was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Joan played one very long set with songs ranging from the great Runaways tunes to her contemporary works, which are really good (you can listen to a few on her website).

I traveled to Gainesville, Florida, my birthplace and epicenter of the Gator Nation, to document Scott and Amanda’s wedding. I had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to have fellowship with Amanda, Scott, and their guests. And I was honored to serve as their photographer and tell the story of their day.
Thanks to Ann Marie of Ladybird Salon; my good friend and talented fine artist, Jeff Dreisen, who agreed to assist and worked the lightstick with an expert eye and contributed his legendary wit and humor; Minister Bachmann for his hospitality; and UCGainesville staff persons like Ken working behind the scenes.
The photographs from the event are now online.
For viewing and ordering prints, please visit the GALLERY.
Then grab some popcorn or chocolate and enjoy viewing the WEDDING SLIDESHOW.
Below are a few frames from the event.
Cheers,
Shaun

Great pictures, Shaun. Thanks for doing such a great job.
You’re welcome!
I love to eat! And hearty Italian is one of my favorite. I had one of my best meals at Lupa in NYC, which is one of Mario Batali’s Italian restaurants.
I made some Lasagne the other day from a recipe in a Mario Batali cookbook. I even made the pasta dough myself, which was a first! I had fun doing it.
Finished product

Cut the asparagus in half for baking

The Balsamella sauce. Absolutely mouth-watering.

Shaun, We love the photos so much. We had a great time and I appreciate your patience with Trinity. I know she can be a handful sometimes and can be hard to photograph, trust me, I know, I’ve been taking pictures of her for 8 years now :-), but by allowing her to be herself you were able to get some amazing photos! You are a truly gifted photographer and we will treasure our photos and the experience forever. We will most certainly be calling you when we plan to have more taken. Thanks again!
It was my pleasure, Angie. I’m so happy that all of you enjoyed the experience and the photos. Trinity is an adorable force of nature and a lot of fun. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon! Enjoy this wonderful time in your lives.
Yes, you ARE a truly gifted photographer!!! These are just excellent, Shaun. Excellent. That black and white of Angie on the dune is just amazing–exquisite art. You’re so good at capturing intimacy in your images; your images communicate! I always feel like I am a part of that moment every time I view your work. To me, THAT is one of the aspects of your work that differentiates you from the rest of the pack (and a very far distance I might add)!!
A magificient sunset backdrop combined with off-camera location lighting make for a classic beach portrait on Panama City Beach, Florida. And I’m a bit partial to the subject—my gorgeous wife.

Great images, Shaun. I have to say that the first set of legs are nicer than the last set. :)
Fun images! The legs are nice, but I’m a sucker for reflections and that sunglasses shot is my favorite. :)
Scott and Amanda are two very fun and interesting people — and an even more amazing couple. I really enjoyed doing their engagement session and worked hard to capture their shared chemistry and the beauty of the day.
Speaking of hard work, Amanda is a talented singer/songwriter who has recorded three albums and toured numerous times. I’m a big fan of her music. Check it out at Amanda Garrigues.com.
I offer them a hearty congratulations and can’t wait to photograph their wedding in August!

Wow, congrats, Amanda!! I saw you play many times in Orlando and Gainesville from 2000 to 2003 or so while I was in college (graduated from UF in 2004). I still adore your songs and listen to them often. Lots of happiness to you and your fiance!
And Shaun… beautiful work as always! My favorite images are the first one and the fifth one. :)
Hi, there, Gator alumna. :) Amazing how many people Amanda has touched with her music. Glad you like the photos. So great to hear from you, Karen! Love to the family.
Love the silhouette and the warmth in them all, Shaun. :)
Glad you enjoyed them, Mark! Thanks for stopping by and letting me know.
